Our Associate Director, Peter Mizen attended the final Energy Club WA industry dinner of the year on Tuesday.
The panel, guided by Izzi Messina, featured, Nesa Abbaspour, Deloitte, Craig Gianoli, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Joe Craparotta, Schneider Electric, and Peter Kerr, EDL.
The discussion covered how data centres, required for the advancement of AI,are becoming major drivers of energy demand, creating both opportunities and challenges for WA’s energy sector. Ideally, these facilities would be run predominantly on renewable power, supported by gas, to reduce environmental impact and keep costs affordable. However, concerns remain about WA’s capacity to sustainably support this growth.
It will be interesting to see how WA’s energy sector responds to these demands.
A big thank you to Kate McCarthy GAICD and Lauren McCarthy from Energy Club WA for organising the 2025 Energy Club WA Industry Dinners. It’s been invaluable hearing from experts on such current topics, and we look forward to seeing what 2026 has in store.
