Yesterday, our team attended the WA Mining Club luncheon featuring the force of nature Bronwyn Barnes, President & CEO of Ivanhoe Atlantic Inc.

Platform CEO, Kirsty Danby, past WAMC President and life member, along with Platform Associate Directors, Chantel Cullen and Peter Mizen had the pleasure of hosting: Lee Winterborn, The CSL Group Inc., Stefan Murphy, CZR Resources, Meath Hammond, Department of the Premier and Cabinet of WA, Graeme Rooke, and Chris Piggott and Jason Samakovidis, Murchison Mining Services.

They were fortunate to hear Bronwyn share her remarkable career journey and insights into global mining leadership, defence policy, and critical mineral supply chains in a fireside chat with Tim McMillan.

A French and Medieval History major, Bronwyn has “barnstormed” her way all over the world, including the White House, and is currently mining in West Africa, which was a career goal she had her sights set on. From discussing critical minerals supplies with the US Secretary of State to negotiating with the Liberian government, Bronwyn has, and continues to, break barriers and overcome fear through “building her brave”.

Bronwyn’s assessment of Australian approvals being too onerous and overcomplicated are highlighted by her time in other countries with more streamlined processes. It is important to remember that “this is a competition between countries”. The risk is that developing nations want external investment and to increase employment so are keen to support operations.

Platform looks forward to seeing what she does next.
