Our CEO Kirsty Danby attended the Business News Politics & Business Breakfast this morning, featuring the Hon. Amber-Jade Sanderson MLA, Minister for Energy, Decarbonisation, Manufacturing, Skills & TAFE, and the Pilbara.
Facilitated by Aaron Morey, Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA Acting CEO and Chief Economist, Minister Sanderson highlighted Western Australia’s energy transformation and the State Government’s strategy to drive decarbonisation while supporting economic growth and industry competitiveness.
Some key takeaways from the breakfast were:
▪️ The WA Government will legislate emissions reduction targets aligned with national goals, providing clarity for investors in renewable and low-carbon projects.
▪️The Minister acknowledged world first technologies being applied in the Pilbara which will play a valuable role in decarbonisation and meeting targets.
▪️The Government is backing green iron production to cut emissions in the global steel supply chain, supporting initiatives by BHP, Rio Tinto, and Fortescue.
▪️Western Power is restructuring to deliver large-scale transmission infrastructure, ensuring new renewable energy projects can connect to the grid.
▪️There is state government support for skilled migration required for the next phase of WA growth, particularly in manufacturing.
Kirsty was especially energised by the Government’s new initiatives to fast-track renewable energy and green manufacturing projects – she’s looking forward to seeing how these efforts will help the sector thrive in the years ahead.
